Friday night Fergie was very busy. She was part of the Stand Up To Cancer telethon, and also part of Fashion Rocks at Radio City Music Hall. The event was set up to kick off New York Fashion Week.
Fergie performed with her group the Black Eyed Peas, with Debbie Harry and by herself. With the Peas she sang a Rolling Stones hit, Miss You and sang Deborah Harry’s hit Call Me with Debbie Harry and by herself. The entire program will air Tuesday night on CBS. Proceeds from the show will go to Stand Up To Cancer.
E! Online has a picture of Fergie with the ensemble of singers backstage getting ready for their performance of Just Stand Up. Don’t forget to tune in Tuesday night on CBS to see Fergie’s performances on Fashion Rocks.

This Friday night, the song Just Stand Up that Fergie collaborated on with a long list of superstars was performed during the hour-long telethon Stand Up to Cancer simultaneously broadcast on CBS, NBC, and ABC.
The song was made for a good cause. I’m sure that we all know someone battling the disease, someone that beat it, or possibly someone that lost the fight. Everyone should go to www.su2c.standup2cancer.org and donate something to cancer research. The website will even show you exactly where your money is going.
Fergie has spent a lot of time lately supporting some good charities that benefit cancer patients, prevent the spread of HIV, and help the disabled. Great work, Fergie!

Fergie has been the MAC VIVA GLAM VI lipstick spokesperson since February and she is raising a great deal of money for the cause. For several years, MAC has been finding beautiful celebrities to be the face of their campaign to raise money for the prevention of the spread of AIDS. Each celeb promotes a lipgloss bearing their name. The proceeds from the sale of the lipgloss goes to the MAC AIDS Fund’s Global Youth Prevention Initiative.
This year Fergie’s lipgloss has managed to bring the Global Youth Prevention Initiative over $2.3 million. That’s pretty impressive and Fergie is very proud of the accomplishment. According to www.marketwatch.com, she recently spoke of the campaign:
Every 15 seconds someone between the ages of 15 and 24 is infected with HIV, and combating the spread of this disease has a lot to do with raising awareness,” said Fergie. “As a musician, I’m able to reach a wider audience about issues close to my heart, and through the VIVA GLAM campaign, I’ve been able to get this message across to youth around the world. I’m so gratified that my lipglass has raised funds to help prevent youth across the globe from contracting HIV.”
Way to go Fergie, keep up the good work!

In case you haven’t heard yet, even politically charged t-shirts can be considered high fashion, that is if celebs like Fergie wear them.
When Fergie performed at The Creative Coalition’s event last week at the DNC, she wore one of Ciara Elend’s VOTE t-shirts onstage. Apparently she wasn’t the only one wearing them that week. Anne Hathaway as well as Susan Sarandon and Josh Lucas were seen around Denver in the shirts as well.
If you want one for yourself, check out www.ciaraelend.com, click on the Creative Coalition icon, and purchase one. And just for your information, she makes both democratic and republican versions of the shirts.
Be sure to go the site to check out Fergie in concert wearing her shirt. It’s actually pretty cute for a political tee!

This weekend the Black Eyed Peas will be in Virginia in support of Audi’s Best Buddies Challenge.
This is a bicycle race benefiting the Best Buddies International organization. This group was founded in 1989 to find ways to support intellectually disabled people. Best Buddies sets up the disabled with employment in integrated settings and one-to-one friendships for them.
This year at the end of the race, the participants will be greeted with a private concert by the Black Eyed Peas and a barbecue. Other celebrities involved include Maria Shriver, David Spade, Carl Lewis, Rob Lowe, and Clint Eastwood, among others. Last year’s race raised over $3 million. Hopefully this year raises even more than that.
Kudos to Fergie and the Peas for being part of such a great cause!
